6th Annual Roofing Awards

One of the largest events to recognise excellence in the roofing industry is set to take place later this month.

The National Federation of Roofing Contractors will announce the winners of the 6th Annual Roofing Awards at a prestigious ceremony in Brighton on Friday, May 20.

The industry event celebrates and honours outstanding projects in all roofing disciplines and recognises high quality workmanship among roofing companies and manufacturers. It also includes a Safety in Roofing category and honours the young roofers who took part in SkillBuild, a prominent national competition which takes place annually to promote excellence among young craftsmen and women in the UK. The NFRC oversees the roof slating and tiling, roof sheeting and cladding and the reinforced bituminous membranes areas of SkillBuild.

The NFRC’s awards ceremony unites all sectors of the roofing industry including various trade associations and bodies such as the Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA), the Flat Roofing Alliance (FRA), the Roofing Tile Alliance (RTA), the Lead Contractors Association (LCA), The Green Roof Centre and Groundwork Sheffield and the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA).

The event, which will be attended by more than 500 guests, will be hosted by former GMTV newsreader Penny Smith alongside NFRC Chief Executive Ray Horwood.

The NFRC is the UK’s largest roofing trade association and represents more than 60% of the roofing industry by value, including High Tech. It was formed in 1943 and during the 1950s, merged with the London Association of Slate Merchants and Master Slaters as well as the National Pitched Roofing Council.

Part of its aim is to ensure members offer high standards of workmanship and good business practice through a strict vetting procedure, including site inspections and adhering to the Government-endorsed TrustMark standards.

The organisation also provides training services and technical advice and represents members in the wider construction industry as well as the Government.
